Terms & Conditions of Hire

SUP Norfolk Ltd (trading name of SUP Shack Sheringham)



These Terms & Conditions apply to all equipment hire and water-based activities provided by SUP Shack Sheringham. By signing our waiver form on the day of your booking, you confirm your agreement to these terms and accept full responsibility for the use of the equipment.

1. Equipment Hire & Responsibilities

a) The hirer must be aged 18 or over and under 75.
b) All equipment hire is at the hirer's own risk. SUP Shack provides equipment only – the hirer is solely responsible for using it safely and ensuring the safety of all users.
c) The hirer is responsible for any person using the board, including children or pets, and must ensure life jackets are worn at all times.
d) The hirer is liable for all damages, losses or costs incurred during the hire period – this includes damage by any secondary user or pet.
e) SUP Shack Sheringham reserves the right to pursue recovery of damages through legal means, including use of third parties.

2. Age Limits & Supervision

a) Children under 5 years of age are not permitted to use the equipment.
b) Children aged 5–12 may only use the board with the hirer present on the board with them.
c) Users aged 13–17 may use the equipment only under direct supervision of the hirer.
d) The hirer is responsible for ensuring these limits are followed.

3. Physical Requirements

a) All users must be able to swim at least 50 metres unaided and be confident in open water.
b) Users must have the physical fitness and strength to manage the equipment, including reboarding after falling.

4. Safety & Conduct

a) All users must wear life jackets at all times.
b) The use of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited before or during use of the equipment.
c) SUP Shack reserves the right to refuse hire to anyone, at our discretion, for safety or behavioural concerns.

5. Pets

a) Pets may accompany the hirer on the board at their own risk.
b) Any damage caused by pets is the hirer’s full responsibility.

6. Damage & Late Return Charges

a) The hirer accepts liability for any damage to boards, paddles, leashes, life jackets or other equipment.
b) Standard replacement costs are listed on the waiver form, signed before hire.
c) Late return of equipment will incur a charge of £15 per hirer, per hour, due to disruption caused to subsequent bookings.

7. Marketing & Photography

a) SUP Shack may take photos and videos of equipment in use for marketing purposes.
b) Hirers or users who do not wish to be included must inform staff before the session, and this will be respected.

8. Weather & Cancellations

a) SUP Shack reserves the right to cancel or delay sessions due to unsafe weather or sea conditions.
b) If SUP Shack cancels for safety reasons, the hirer will be offered either a full refund or a rescheduled session.
c) No refund will be given if the hirer cancels or fails to attend.
